Karaikal Municipality receives various Grants-in-aid mentioned below from the government departments and agencies to provide basic civil infrastructure according to the needs of public and its execute through Engineering Section following the norms and procedures.

 Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)
 Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM)

AMRUT
Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) is to (i) ensure that every household has access to a tap with assured supply of water and a sewerage connection; (ii) increase the amenity value of cities by developing greenery and well maintained open spaces (e.g. parks); and (iii) reduce pollution by switching to public transport or constructing facilities for non-motorized transport (e.g. walking and cycling). All these outcomes are valued by citizens, particularly women, and indicators and standards have been prescribed by the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) in the form of Service Level Benchmarks (SLBs). AMRUT mission period is 2015 to 2020 Karaikal region has been included in the Amrut Mission during the year of 2016-17. Under Amrut Scheme the following are has been proposed in our municipal limit.

1. Providing Children park at Thiruvalluar Nagar in Patchoor, Thirunallar road, Karaikal
 FY 2017-18
2. Providing Children park at Valliammai Nagar in Keezhakasakudy, Karaikal
3. Purchase of two number of Sewage tanker vehicle to Karaikal Municipality

Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM)
SBM is being implemented by the Ministry of Urban Development (M/o UD) and by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (M/o DWS) for urban and rural areas respectively. The Mission will be in force till 2nd October 2019. Mission Components are
a) Household toilets, including conversion of insanitary latrines into pour-flush latrines,
b) Community toilets,
c) Public toilets and urinals,
d) Solid waste management,
e) IEC & Public Awareness,
f) Capacity building

Under SBM the following toilets works have been taken up.
 FY 2016-17
1. Construction of Public Toilets at municipal Thidal in Karaikal.
2. Construction of Public Toilets at Beach in Karaikal
3. Construction of Public Toilets near fish and vegetable market at Madhagady, Karaikal
4. Renovation of Toilet at Pudunagar and Layankarai in Karaikal
 FY 2017-18
1. Construction of shed for Vermi composting in compost yard at Paravipet site, Karaikal

MLA-LAD Scheme
Under the scheme, each M.L.A., will have the choice to suggest to the Secretary in-charge of the Local Administration department, works to the amount allotted to each M.L.A during the year to be taken up in their respective constituencies. Member of the legislative assembly may select any area from the constituencies from which he/she has been elected for exercising the choice of works under this scheme. On the basis of suggestion made by M.L.A.’s priorities will be drawn according to thisscheme guidelines.

MP-LAD Scheme
The MPLADS is a Plan Scheme fully funded by Government of India. The annual MPLADSfund entitlement per MP constituency now is Rs. 5 Crore.Lok Sabha Members can recommend works within their Constituencies and ElectedMembers of Rajya Sabha can recommend works within the State of Election. All works to meet locally felt infrastructure and development needs, with an emphasis on creation of durable assets in the constituency are permissible under MPLADS.

Each MP will recommend works up to the annual entitlement during the financial to the concerned District Authority.The District Authority will get the eligible sanctioned works executed as per the established procedure of the Government.In the U.T. of Puducherry, DRDA is the Nodal Agency for the implementation of MPLAD Scheme.
